Environmentally Friendly

Just arrived back from a wonderful trip to California. Not only did I get a chance to relax, but also to gather ideas for making not only hotels but homes energy efficient. Closets lights automatically turned themselves on and off when the door was open and closed, motion devices detected when someone left the room to automatically turn off the lights, dimmers to lower wattage use were present in most rooms and there was an overall feeling of simply using our resources more efficiently. All of these can and should be incorporated into not only commercial design but residential as well..

Office Furniture

Last week we delivered a new product... very reasonably priced office furniture to the local corporate office of a national company. Today we are pleased to be able to deliver that same quality product to a local early childhood school office. Quality at substantial savings..  As an interior design firm, we are finding the need to provide good service and design with products that are cost effective. Making changes in your home or office should be affordable.

Welcome back.... an old client!

Back in 1994 we created a lovely Town Home for a client. In 2004 we worked with them to add some fresh details. Now it is 2011 and we were just called to remodel their bathrooms, entry, dining room and change their carpeting. It is truly amazing that the builder's grade carpeting we selected for them back in 1994 is being replaced 17 years later. I actually warned them that the carpet on the stairs might wear in 10 years, but with proper care, it has lasted much longer.  We are excited to work with this client again.. Third time around!.... As this client has said, they want to maintain the value of their property while enjoying a new, fresh look! Updates to follow....

"Age in Place"

According to the 2010 Census, the population in the US is getting older. People are taking better care of themselves and living longer. As designers we are aware of the need to be able to "age in place" by making homes, apartments, businesses more accessible and friendly as we age. Adding grab bars in a bathroom or down a long hall way goes a long way to prevent falls. However, there are many other things that can be done to make our current surroundings more user friendly. The time to update your home, widen bathroom doors, create larger turn around spaces or reorganize is not when you need it but before. We are taking appointments to come out and evaluate client's needs.

Ceiling Designs

At a client's request, he wanted ceilings that were unique from room to room. To accomplish that we created ceilings that ranged from Groin vaults to barrel ceilings to coved ceilings with lighting. We now have a wide variety of materials and designs at our fingertips to enhance both new homes and use in remodeling existing residences. Changing a ceiling can completely change the look of a room or entire residence and can be accomplished in a variety of budgets. www.sandbinteriors.com
